1. Where is Buon Ma Thuot?

Buon Ma Thuot is the capital city of Dak Lak province, Vietnam. This is the largest city in the Central Highlands and is the mountainous metropolis with the largest population in Vietnam at an altitude of 536 m above sea level.

2. Best time to visit

Buon Ma Thuot has two distinct rainy and sunny seasons. The dry season starts from November to April next year. The rainy season starts from May to October. Due to the relatively mild climate, the average annual temperature is 23-24 degrees C, so you can come to Buon Ma Thuot at any time of the year, but ideally especially December (the season of yellow wildflowers) or March (the coffee flower season and the attractive elephant racing festival).

3. Transfer to Buon Ma Thuot

From Saigon: If you take shuttle bus, it will take you about 7-8 hours, tickets can be purchased at Saigon’s Eastern bus station for about 200,000 – 240,000VND one way with many round per day. You can choose a night round (at 10pm) to take advantage of the night sleeping on the bus.
In addition, you can choose direct flights of Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Jetstar for about 1 or 1.5 million vnd for a round trip. It only takes you about an hour to be in Buon Ma Thuot.

From Hanoi: you can buy tickets with Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Jetstar for about 2-3 million VND for a round trip. The flight from Hanoi to Buon Ma Thuot takes about 1 hour 40 minutes.

From Da Lat: You can also move to Buon Ma Thuot by night bus from Dalat in a period of 5 hours, costing about 200,000VND.

In the morning, we start the day tour with Trung Nguyen Coffee Museum with unique architecture of the Tay Nguyen ethnic minority’s traditional house. If you are a coffee lover, you cannot miss this place.

After visiting the museum, moving 60km to the 3 most famous waterfalls in Dak Lak: Drap Sap, Drap Nur and Gia Long. You can choose 2 of 2 pairs of falls: Drap Sap and Gia Long Falls or Drap Nur and Gia Long Falls. These two falls, if riding a motorbike, are 20km apart, but if you go to the first pair, you can walk along the forest road through the second pair for about 2km.

Afternoon we visit Lak Lake, the largest natural lake in the Central Highlands. This is a place you can take a boat ride to watch the sunset on the rippling lake. On the way to Lak Lake, we passed by Mother Elephant Stone, the largest black monolith in Vietnam, which rose up like an elephant’s spine.

CT City Resort: is recently inaugurated hotel in July 2018. This boutique hotel only has 9 rooms: 2 twin, 2 triple and 5 double. Décor is in charming colonial style, with indoor swimming pool. The skylight shines light on swimming pools and restaurants. Breakfast includes char siu bread, quang noodle, noodle soup and indispensable Ban Me coffee. Price for one night including breakfast is 650,000VND/twin. With groups of 20 people, the restaurant has its own menu. On weekends, the hotel is often full.

Muong Thanh Buon Me Thuot: The largest and most modern hotel in Buon Ma Thuot with a capacity of thousands of guests. Muong Thanh enjoys a central location with well-equipped rooms, swimming pool and tennis courts.

6. Coffe House in Buon Ma Thuot

Buon Ma Thuot is the coffee capital of Vietnam, so if you skip enjoying coffee here, it’s a pity.

Nha Kho Coffee Shop This is a coffee shop on the outskirts of Buon Ma Thuot, 12km from the center. Because it is a nely opened coffee shop and almost unknown. It was desgined by a architect to satisfy his creativity. The coffee shop has Tay Nguyen stilt house architecture combined with Hue ancient house and Chiang Mai minimalist style and a fresh garden view.

ARUL Coffee: Its a Tay Nguyen ethnic minority style coffee house, drinks are coffee brewed in the dense style of the Central Highlands. The interior is decorated with the rustic and mysterious items of the Ede ethnic group.
